Further down Comstock Avenue is Oakwood Cemetery. Founded in the 19th century, it was designed by New York City landscape gardener Howard Daniels and is perhaps one of the most peaceful places to walk in the University neighborhood. Oakwood contains monuments to, and mausoleums of, many notable Syracuse University figures including L.C. Smith and John Crouse.
